Sonowal directs removal of all red beacons

GUWAHATI, April 20: Following the Union cabinet decision to do away with the red beacons atop cars of ministers, bureaucrats, politicians and VVIPs, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed all in the state to remove the same immediately.
Welcoming the Union cabinet decision the Assam CM said that the removal of red beacons is a step towards Narendra Modi’s vision of a new India.

Terming the step of the Modi led Union cabinet’s decision as a historic and bold one, Sonowal said that the removal of red beacon culture will make the country’s democracy stronger.
Following Sonowal’s directive, several ministers of the state government including Pramila Rani Brahma, Keshab Mahanta, Atul Bora, BJP’s Assam unit president Ranjit Das on Thursday had the red beacons on their cars removed.
Assam governor Banwarilal Purohit has also  ordered the removal of red lights from his vehicles with immediate effect.
