SHILLONG, April 12: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has announced its intention to contest all the seats in the upcoming 2018 state polls on its own.
This announcement was made by the top rung leaders of the party comprising its president, Dr. Donkupar Roy, working president, Paul Lyngdoh, state vice president, Allantry F Dkhar during a party meeting held at Songsak in East Garo Hills on Tuesday.
Speaking during this meeting, Lyngdoh urged the public to strengthen the party so that it is able to lead the state of its own and carry forward development in the state.
The party leaders made an effort to convince the people of the region to vote for the UDP and assured to fulfill the pending demand for creation of Ronjeng Civil Sub-Division, if their party is voted to power in the 2018 polls.
On Wednesday, the party held a public meeting at Rongkhon, wherein Dr. Roy lambasted the Congress party for corruption and family centric politics.
In both the public meetings, the party made efforts to strike a chord and seek mass support.
