Pynshngain urges Guv to expedite Council Bills

SHILLONG, Feb 24: A request for expedition of a number of Bills passed by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council was made to the Governor of Meghalaya, Banwarilal Purohit when a delegation of the ruling Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) in the Council paid him a courtesy visit on Friday.
This PDF delegation of the PDF, led by the Chief Executive Member (CEM), PN Syiem also informed the Governor that at present, there are at least 10 Bills passed by the Council which are pending for approval till date.

“We have urged the Governor to look into the matter,” Syiem informed after the visit.
He however said that the issues pertaining to the KHAD (Village Administration) Bill, 2015 and nominated MDC were not raised before the Governor during this visit.
He also informed that the VAB is still pending with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Council is waiting for response after submitting its reply on the 12-point queries raised by the ministry.
