SHILLONG, Dec 22: With the completion inauguration of the new campus of the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) by Union Minister of State Independent Charge of AYUSH, Shripad Yessa Naik on Thursday, the State Government has sought the reservation of a minimum of 18 seats in the Institute for the indigenous locals.
“We urged the centre to consider the reservation of a minimum of 18 seats comprising 9 in homeopathy and 9 in ayurveda out of 100 the total seats which is at par with seats allotted by NEIGHRIMS for the MBBS to local indigenous population in Meghalaya,” State health minister Roshan Warjri said while speaking at a function.

With regards to the process of recruitment in the institute, the Health Minister also urged the Centre to give preference to the people of the state on the basis of merit.
She argued that this will help bridge language barriers and also help people understand and accept the significance of the AYUSH system of treatment.
