SHILLONG, Jan 29: Members of the FKJGP Mairang Circle, under the leadership of President, Bobby Basaiawmoit and the General Secretary, Humble Wahlang have locked a Reliance telecom tower at Lyngdoh Masi on Saturday last, owing to its obsolete functioning and the unavailability of network in the area that has been recurring for months.
Shillong, Jan 29: In response to Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) demanding a convincing reply from the Government of Meghalaya on the rural electrification scenario in Garo Hills within seven days, state government has stated that “improvement of Power supply in the three districts of Garo Hills has been a serious concern of the Government”.
Government informed that it has launched various development schemes for improving the Power supply in Garo Hills comprising of construction of 132 KV lines and substations, generation project in Ganol, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) project for village electrification and providing power supply to Below Poverty Line Rural households, Distribution projects among many others.
Shillong, Jan 29: Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) has asked the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) for an immediate inquiry and to rehabilitate children living in brothels in the red light area in Silchar (Assam).
"In the interest of the many children remaining unprotected and living in danger in the 'red-light' area at Silchar, I am requesting the Commission to take cognizance of the facts and order an inquiry into the matter so the victims gets proper rehabilitation," CSWO President Agnes Kharshiing said.
Shillong, Jan 29: The All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organization (AJYWO) Central Body through the Joint General Secretary, P. Pde, has conveyed its best wishes to all the students in Jaintia Hills appearing for their varied examinations this year.
In a press statement, Pde said, “The country which has hard working citizens is liable to become a successful one and no one will dare to laugh on its face”.
“The organization also wishes all the students in the best of their health and no hurdle will come in their times of examination”, he added.
