New MCAB Branch inaugurated at Nongthymmai

Shillong, March 28: Meghalaya Union affairs Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh inaugurated the 45th branch of the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank (MCAB) Ltd at Nongthymmai, Jingkieng on Wednesday in the presence of Local MDC, Latiplang Kharkongor, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, D. Vijay Kumar, Chairperson of the MCAB, R. Warjri, Vice chairman, Mukul Das and managing Director, D.F. War amongst others.
Lyngdoh lauded the efforts of the MCAB management for expanding the banking service in different part of the state for catering the needs of the people. She also emphasized that more new branches should be open especially in those areas where there are no banking facilities.
She also underlined the needs to create awareness among the people of the State especially in the rural areas to make people aware about the various facilities offered by the bank, adding that bank play a fundamental role for the development of the rural areas by providing different banking services
Others speaking on the occasion were D.Vijay Kumar, R. Warjri, Mukul Das and D.F. War.

First Session on US Visa procurement held

SHILLONG, March 28:
An interactive session on Visa was on Wednesday evening conducted by officials from the U.S. Consulate General, Kolkata at the Hotel Pinewood here.
The requirements to apply for a US Visa, the procedure involved and other necessities were explained by Vice US Counselor, Jessica Parker, to the members of Rotary Club of Orchid City.
“The purpose for applying a Visa takes time. Hence tourist should not be in a hurry for booking their tickets,” Parker said adding “The passport photo should be in ‘.jpg’ format between 600 x 600 and 1200 x 12000 pixels, with a measure of 2 inches square.”

Police nabs car lifting duo from city

SHILLONG, March 28:
Citing that Bolero vehicles are on high demand in neighboring states, state police Wednesday sounded alert asking vehicle owners to be more careful in parking.
Two professional car lifters were on Tuesday last arrested by police and a stolen bolero (ML 05J 0435) was recovered from their possession by the city police.

Meghalaya gears up for Basin Development week

Shillong, March 28: In observance of Basin Development week, a series of programmes will be organized by different Government Departments from April 2-5 under the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme (IBDLP) at Yojana Bhavan Auditorium, Shillong.
IBDLP is a flagship programme of the State Government which aims at promoting optimum and effective development and utilization of basin resources of Meghalaya for ensuring livelihood security and inclusive growth in a sustainable framework.
The Basin Development week will commence with the Conclave on Financial Inclusion organized by the Department of Finance, Government of Meghalaya and Meghalaya Basin Development Authority on April 2 next.

GNLA’ S  DAY  OUT

GNLA  Action Commander, Ringrang Momin along with other cadres seen shopping in Daranggri Bazaar from 9am till 4pm last Tuesday.
After speaking to the public in the locality after this audacious stroll of the cadres, it was learnt that the public had distributed them food and fruits as they believed it was because of GNLA that the locality had been freed of hooligans.
