SHILLONG, March 28: The tussle over electing headmen for Malki seems to have revived with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Malki opposing the decision to re-elect former Rangbah Shnong of Malki Oflyn Dohling.
The JAC is a conglomeration of four organizations, comprising of the Seng Samla Shnong Malki and Greater Malki Peopleâ€™s Organization (GMPO), FKJGP and KSU.Â
Addressing a press conference here Wednesday, the JAC called upon the people of Malki to participate in electing the new headman on the upcoming election scheduled on March 31 at Madan Malki.
NONGSTOIN, March 28: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Rowell Lyngdoh, released two Ambulances and one Bus for the Health Department of West Khasi Hills amidst ASHA volunteers and in the presence of Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, Dr. A. PariongÂ who was theÂ Guest of honour Wednesday.
Speaking in the programme, Lyngdoh said one of the Ambulances has been released for Mairang and the other two including the Bus had been released to Nongstoin for the ease of the staff and the patients suffered due to bad conditions of the road.
Accepting that there was lack of specialist doctors in state, he rued that till date the government has been able to send only three specialist doctors in the District.
Shillong, March 28: An On-Air Slogan Competition on Voluntary Blood Donation 2012 was organized by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, Shillong from February 13 - 22 which was also aired on Red FM 93.5.
All together 118 slogans were submitted, out of which Three slogans were finally declared winners.Â
W. Shanborlang Swer bagged the First place with his slogan being â€œA brave soldier volunteer to sacrifice his life for others, we can equally save others without sacrificing our life by voluntarily donating bloodâ€. Danny Mitchel Marbaniang with his Slogan â€œA Voluntary issue without a loss, a voluntary issue with a good causeâ€ bagged the Second place and in the Third place was Don.
The winners were awarded with cash prize of Rs, 5000, Rs. 3000, and Rs. 2000 respectively

Shillong, March 28: The Excise Staff of East Khasi Hills District in its continued drive against illicit liquor conducted raids in the restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts.
During the month of February 2012, the Excise detected 39 cases with of 21.670 litres IMFL among seized. 39 persons were arrested under Excise Act in this connection.
