WPM setup six more units at Langpih

NONGSTOIN, March 03:
The Western people Movement (WPM) Central Body on Saturday under the leadership of Central Body President, Johny Syiemlieh, went to Tiehthawiar village of langpih area to   extend its unit in the area and also elected new members for the committee.
The movement formed a circle for Rimuliang area and five units which includes Madan Jaiaw, Khyllem Sangrin, Pyndensohstap, Langja, Ktieh thawiar and around 50 members.

Inauguration of Umkhakoi Small Multi Purpose Reservior at Mawlyngbna

Shillong, March 03: Meghalaya Chief Secretary, WMS Pariat Saturday inaugurated the Umkhakoi Small Multi Purpose Reservoir and the approach road to Small Multi Purpose Reservoir which is an initiative for convergence under the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme at Mawlyngbna village under the Mawsynram C & RD Block.
The inauguration function was attended by Additional Chief Secretary, PBO Warjri, Principal Secretary, Planning, RM Mishra, Principal Secretary, C & RD and Fisheries, KN Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Sanjay Goyal, Acting Syiem, Hima Mawsynram, Amos Sing Star Malngiang, government officials from different departments and general public from Mawlyngbna and its adjoining villages.

Ignorance, laziness can mislead youth: HS Lyngdoh

MLA Nongstoin, Hopingstone Lyngdoh, inaugurated the Calvary Academy L.P School at Mawkhlam in the presence of the Nongstoin MDC, L.G Nongsiej as the Guest of Honour on Saturday.
The inaugural function was chaired by the Pastor incharge of the school Rev. Sunshine Warjri.
Speaking in the function the Lyngdoh asserted that he has an objective of eradicating ‘ignorance and laziness’ as these are the two thing which can mislead people and get them involved in different anti social element especially for the youth.

10 youths from Garo Hills complete ‘Pottery’ training

SHILLONG, March 03:
10 youths from militancy hit Garo Hills on Saturday completed two months training on ‘Pottery’ sponsored by the State KHADI and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) from Mumbai.
They are from Kharkutta village, East Garo hills district. The training was held from September to November last year.
“We have selected youths from the different areas of Garo hills to provide them with skill trainings such as this for self-employment opportunity”, NE Zonal member of Trade, business & Investment promoter Rajan Bhattacharjee said.

5 injured as four accidents mark the weekend

SHILLONG, March 03:
A driver of a truck sustained injuries after the truck (ASO1AC – 7772) travelling towards Guwahati went off the road at Shang Bangla, Ri Bhoi District on Saturday at about 8:10 am.
The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at Nongpoh helped in shifting Averli Shadap (30) to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
In another incident, a motorist sustained injuries when the motorbike was hit by another vehicle at Mukheet under Khliehrait Block, Jaintia Hills on Saturday at about  11:35 am.
