SHILLONG, March 05: As the uncrowned fashion capital of the Northeast, Shillong is used to fashion parades. But the city has not quite experienced the style statement that will be out of â€˜The Closetâ€™ later this week for a cause.
This Saturday, the Meghalaya capital will be rocked by the class of magnitude of fashion usually experienced in the metros of India and abroad. The show christened â€˜The Closetâ€™ and to be held at The Shillong Club.
The spotlight of the show would be on James Ferreira, one of Indiaâ€™s most happening designers and his creations on the countryâ€™s top 20 models. If he guarantees a â€˜Saturday night feverâ€™, the feverish pitch would be set by local designers before him.

Tenders have already been called via e-tendering, the first for Meghalaya government, for the first batch of Phase VI.
Altogether there are 18 schemes under the first batch of Phase VI, but tenders have been called for 16 while for the remaining 2 tenders will called soon, informed sources.
SHILLONG, March 04: Acting on specific inputs, BSF troops along with the local police of South Garo Hills raided the house of one Arti Banai in Jatrakona village on Saturday night at about 8 pm.
1150 bottles of Phensydle bottles and eight liquor bottles amounting to about Rs 2,32,000 were recovered from the mentioned house.
It is alleged that the consignment was kept in the house for further smuggling to Bangladesh.
SHILLONG, March 04: The 3rd DCC meeting was held at Shnongpdeng village, which is about 45kms from Jowai on Friday last.
Chairing the meeting Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District, T. Dkhar, informed that the intention of conducting the meeting in villages is to bring villagers closers to the Government, to make them aware of the schemes available in various Departments and schemes already implemented by departments in various villages.
The DC also expressed a desire to project Shnongpdeng as the cleanest village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Darrang Sardarship of Jaintia Hills District.
The villagers expressed their problems relating to Health, roads and water. The DC also informed that proposal will be put soon for the construction of roads.
