SHILLONG, March 30: The 3rd National Conference on Emerging Trends and Applications in Computer Science (NCETACS 2012) organized by the Department of Computer Science, St. Anthonyâ€™s College and in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, St. Anthonyâ€™s College, was inaugurated Friday by the Minister of Information Technology, Government of Meghalaya, AL Hek who graced the Inaugural Function as the Chief Guest.
SHILLONG, March 30: A truck carrying logs went off the road after it hit a tree on the side of the road at Nonglwai under Nongstoin Block, West Khasi Hills on Thursday last at about 8:55 am. The incident happened while the truck was on its way to Nongstoin.
The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at Nongstoin helped in shifting Pynshai Jyndiang (15), Pholding Nongdkhar (42), Quinborlin Kharbani (38) to Nongstoin Civil Hospital and Klinsman Kharbani from Nongstoin Civil Hospital to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong.

This is to assure the passengers first the genuinely of the drivers and secondly a safe ride to their destination(s) chauffeured by a courteous and affable driver.
Shillong, March 29: East Khasi Hills(EKH) police Thursday rescued five persons from the captive of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and nabbed three militants of the outfit after a fierce gun battle at Lad Mawreng, just 15 kilometers from Shillong city.
The three appended militants have been identified as Anthony Marak, Sen P Marak and Manuel G Momin.
Police also seized huge cache of arms from the possession of the militants, which include one AK â€“ 56 Rifle, three magazines and 47 rounds of ammunition along with plastic coated wire meant for IED, magazines pouches, one .38 fabricated Pistol along with magazine and other clothing items.
Shillong, March 29: Top paddlers from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and host India would take part in the prestigious 12th South Asian Federation (SAF) Junior Table Tennis Championship to be hosted by Meghalaya in June.
Altogether nine countries will participate in the event that will be held from June 17 â€“ 19, this was disclosed by Chief Minster Dr Mukul Sangma Thursday, which will be hosted jointly with the Meghalaya Table Tennis Association and Government of Meghalaya.
