SHILLONG, March 20:
One Sanjay Shah from Polo, Shillong was brutally assaulted by five tribals belonging to a particular community when they hired a local cab (ML05 H-9404) driven by the victim to take them to Laitkor Peak on Sunday last.
Apparentky, just as the cab reached Lumshnong, one of the passengers from the group asked the driver to slow down. As the driver pressed the brakes a passenger sitting behind the driver allegedly covered the driver’s mouth, preventing him from opening his mouth and shout.
As the driver applied the brakes harder due to the attack, the car came to a halt after which the miscreants thrashed him brutally, and dumped him in the trunk of the car.
It was only when the cab reached Jowai that the driver realized where he was and once the cab reached Umkhiang, the miscreants thinking the victim was dead, dumped him in the nearby forest.
Stranded in the forest, Shah caught a passing by night super at around 11.40 pm, and somehow made it back to Polo.
A FIR has been filed in Sadar police Station about the incident.
It was reported that the local cab belongs to one Sunita Devi from Thana Road and till the filing of the story the whereabouts of the cab is still unknown.
