SHILLONG, JUNE 28: The members of the Federation of Khasi â€“ Jaintia and Garo PeopleÂ - East Khasi hills Unit (FKJGP-EKHU) on Thursday called upon the State Transport Minister, AT Mondal and demanded that the government should â€˜excludeâ€™ all old vehicles from High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) registration.
After the meeting with the state Transport Minister, FKJGP-EKHU publicity secretary Eldie N Lyngdoh said â€œThe organization has demand that all old vehicles in the state should be exempted from the HSRP registration.â€
SHILLONG, June 28: Concerned over the lack of justice delivery systems in the region, the All India Legal Aid Forum (AILAF) on Thursday demanded the Central Government to create separate â€˜high-courtsâ€™ for the states in the North East India as well as setting up a â€˜Supreme Court benchâ€™ for the North East Zone which will cater to the needs and aspirations of the people of the region especially the downtrodden.
Notably, at present â€˜Guwahati High Courtâ€™ is the only Court catering to need of the entire North East region.

SHILLONG, June 28: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Khasi Hills (EKH) district recently has directed all the Block Development Officer (BDO) to strictly adhere to the guidelines and provisions laid by the central government on the implementation of the different flagship programmes of the Government particularly the MGNREGA and IAY.
Altogether there are 80 Community & Rural Development Block (C&RD) including Mylliem, Mawphlang, Mawsynram, Mawryngkneng, Mawkynrew, Pynursla, Khatarshnong-Laitkroh and Shella-Bholaganj C&RD Block in the district.
SHILLONG, June 28: Concerned over the pathetic and irregular power supply, a delegation of the Khasi Studentsâ€™ Union â€“ South West Khasi Hills Unit (KSU-SWKHU) Thursday met Meghalaya Power Minister AT Mondal demanding the state government to install adequate and quality â€˜transformersâ€™ to provide un-interrupt power supply to villages falling under East Khasi hills and West Khasi hills district.
