Sangma files nomination, says its victory of tribal unity

New Delhi, June 28 (IANS): Terming it a "victory of tribal unity", National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate P.A. Sangma Thursday filed his nomination papers for the July 19 presidential election.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, BJP president Nitin Gadkari and party leaders L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley were amongst those who were present at the Rajya Sabha secretariat when Sangma filed his nomination.
United Progressive Alliance (UPA) candidate Pranab Mukherjee filed his papers earlier in the day.

Petrol prices to be cut by Rs.2.46 per litre

New Delhi, June 28 (IANS): India's oil marketing companies have decided to reduce petrol prices by Rs.2.46 per litre from midnight, it was announced here Thursday.
"The downward revision shall vary from Rs.2.46 per litre to Rs.3.22 per litre including state levies depending upon the state taxes," Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a statement on behalf of the state-owned oil marketing companies.

KSU applauds new NEHU Admission Policy

New Admission Policy implemented by the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) has been applauded by the Khasi Students Union (KSU) NEHU unit.
The KSU NEHU unit on Thursday expressed deep appreciation after the new admission policy was implemented in NEHU.
The policy is aimed to cater the needs of students of the state especially those pursuing their Master’s Degree in the University.

LPG racket busted in Laitumkhrah

SHILLONG, June 28:
Police on Thursday busted an LPG racket operating in Laitumkhrah area, in its continued crack on the black marketing of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders.
One LPG agent, who is accused of providing LPG cylinders in black market, was arrested on Thursday from Laitumkhrah market.
According to police, the apprehended person has been identified as Laloo Yadav.
“37 commercial LPG Cylinder, 14 domestic Cylinder and 15 LPG card belonging to Sukbha agency were recovered from him,” police said.
An FIR has been lodged against him and police are investigating into the matter to bust the big racket concerning general humans.

Rs 100 Crores for NE States under NFSM

Shillong, June 28: The North-Eastern (NE) States of the country are getting Rs 100 crores this year from the Agriculture Ministry for supporting various activities relating to rice cultivation, under the National Food Security Mission (NFSM).
