Shillong, June 30: The Meghalaya Swimming Association is organizing a Coaching Camp, 9th State Swimming Competition and 6th Swim fest from July 16 to 21 at Crinoline Pool in Shillong.
The State Swimming Competition will include 50mtrs Freestyle /Breast Stroke /Back Stroke / Butterfly Stroke, 100 mtrs Freestyle / Breast Stroke / Back Stroke, 400 mtrs Freestyle, 4 x 25 mtrs Relay, 4x 50 mtrs Relay and Diving.
New Delhi, June 29 (Agencies): The suggestion of a Congress MLA, the main opposition in Punjab Assembly, to overcome the problem of stray dog menace Friday invited the wrath of animal lovers.
People for Animals' President Saurabh Gupta said that no doubt, the issue raised by the MLA needs to be addressed at the earliest, but the solution suggested by him is "not practical and ethical". "It is inhuman and unethical. Dogs have the right to live as well", he said.
SHILLONG, June 29: Firm in his belief despite of district administration trying its level best to stop the agitation, a 28 year-old Pynskhemlang Nongshlong is all set to go ahead with his â€œindefinite-hunger-strikeâ€ at Langpih which will begin from June 30, as a move to call on the two state governments â€“ Assam and Meghalaya to end up the long pending boundary dispute.
Pandal has been constructed by villages at Langpih for the youth and his supporters to take shelter from the weather condition prevailing in the area during the course of the agitation.
Shillong, June 29: The Mawsynram-Hatmawdon-Ryngku road which was closed down on June 26, 2012 due to landslide at 4th, 5th and at 2nd, 4th, 6th, 10th and 11th Km of Phlangsynnei-Tynger-Dewsaw road is expected to open to transport on June 30, 2012 after restoration work is completed.
Similarly the restoration work of the Balat-Shella road at 33rd, 34th, 37th and 38th is in progress and the road communication will resume on June 30, 2012.
SHILLONG, June 29: The North East Students Organization (NEZO) Friday staged a one-day sit-in-protest in the city as a move to protest against the inaction of the government towards the different demands set forth by the organization which concerns the North Eastern Region (NER).
Earlier, the NESO activists took out a march from the office of the Khasi Students Union past the Raj Bhavan and held a peaceful sit-in demonstration on the issues.
Submitting a memorandum to the Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary, the NESO handed over a list of 10 issues ranging from improvement of education, an employment policy for the region, repeal of AFSPA, the long pending inter-state boundary issue and the halting of construction of big dams.
