Flood hits Plain belt areas of Meghalaya

Shillong, June 30:
The Plain Belt area of the Garo Hills been hit severely by flood and the water level continues to rise.
Sources informed that flood has hit areas from Tikrikilla to Hellaydigang three – days back.
All roads have been submerged including the electric poles. This has rendered the affected areas power less for the past three days.

Sangma plays tribal card to garner support from northeast

Guwahati, June 30 (IANS): Playing the tribal card, former Lok Sabha speaker and NDA presidential candidate P.A. Sangma Saturday appealed to politicians in the mostly Congress-ruled northeastern states - a large share of who are tribals - to support his candidature “without any doubt or fear”.

Meghalaya unites with Pynskhemlang for resolving inter – state boundary issue

SHILLONG, June 30:
Expressing concern over the Assam- Meghalaya Boundary dispute, hundreds of people from across the West Khasi hills district gathered at Langpih and participated at the “indefinite-hunger-strike” led by a 28 year old Pynskhemlang Nongshlong which started Saturday, as a move to call on the two state governments – Assam and Meghalaya - to resolve the issue.

All SBI branches in Garo Hills to remain closed on Monday

SHILLONG, June 30:
The State Bank of India (SBI) Saturday decided to close-down all its branches in Garo hills region for 24 hours on July 2, as mark of protest against the abductor who have kidnapped one of its employees recently.
The unanimous decision was taken at an emergent meeting convened by the State Bank of India Staff Association (SBISA) held on Saturday.

Pala refutes Purno’s claim of Tribal Forum’s choice

Dismissing the claim made by presidential aspirant PA Sangma, Union Minister of State for Water Resources Vincent H Pala Saturday said that Tribal Forum has never put up him (Sangma) as a candidate as claimed by the former Lok Sabha Speaker.
