NCP ask Govt to address root – cause of militancy in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, July 31:
Lauding the arrest of the GNLA chief, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) however Tuesday called on the state government to find out ways and means - a solution to address the “root-cause” of the problem of insurgency in the state and Garo Hills region in particular.
“The government should address the root cause of the problem as to why several outfits have cropped up in the Garo Hills region in a very short span of time”, Opposition Leader (NCP) Conrad K Sangma said while congratulating the government and the state police on their achievement.

BSF apprehends Bangladeshi intruders

SHILLONG, July 31:
Reacting on specific information on Monday the Border Security Force (BSF) deployed at Dangar, East Khasi Hills district apprehended one Bangladeshi miscreant while he was trying to infiltrate into India from Bangladesh.
The apprehended person has been identified as Md Noor Alam (18).

NGOs incensed with Dr. Lyngdoh’s transfer

SHILLONG, July 31:
Various NGOs of Williamnagar, East Garo Hills district in a letter to the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has conveyed displeasure at the sudden transfer of the newly appointed Principal of Williamnagar Government College, Williamnagar, Dr. Tariang Lyngdoh.
NGOs comprising of Senior Citizens Welfare Forum, Mothers’ Federation, All India Garo Union, Vigilance & Protection Team and Council of Nokmas in the letter said that the sudden transfer of the principal is completely unreasonable, unacceptable and extremely detrimental to the welfare of the College and its students.

India yet to submit reply on boundary dispute to UN

SHILLONG, July 31:
India is yet to submit its reply on the long pending boundary dispute to the UN Special Rapporter, says MPHRC secretary general Dino DG Dympep.
The issue was taken at the recent concluded general debate on the Human Rights Situation in India during the 20th Session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva, Switzerland by the delegation of the Meghalaya People’s Human Rights Council (MPHRC).
