SHILLONG, July 31:
Various NGOs of Williamnagar, East Garo Hills district in a letter to the Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has conveyed displeasure at the sudden transfer of the newly appointed Principal of Williamnagar Government College, Williamnagar, Dr. Tariang Lyngdoh.
NGOs comprising of Senior Citizens Welfare Forum, Mothers’ Federation, All India Garo Union, Vigilance & Protection Team and Council of Nokmas in the letter said that the sudden transfer of the principal is completely unreasonable, unacceptable and extremely detrimental to the welfare of the College and its students.
“We support and demand that the order of ‘Transfer’ of the Principal of Williamnagar Government College, Williamnagar, Dr. Tariang Lyngdoh, should be immediately revoked and that the incumbent be retained in her present position at least for a minimum period of two years in order for her to be able to complete the good works that she had begun in right earnest in the interest of the students and the College,” the NGOs stated.
It can be mentioned that Dr. Lyngdoh was transferred from Jowai Government College, Jowai to Tura Government College, in the month of September 2011. Then she was transferred to Williamnagar Government College, in the month of November 2011.
“Her tenure is not yet complete and she is suddenly being taken away from Williamnagar to Shillong without rhyme or reason. One fails to understand the logic of such haphazard decisions,” the different NGOs stated.
They further stated that they have found their Principal, Dr. Lyngdoh, is hardworking, energetic, and efficient and they are greatly displeased that such a dedicated officer is being taken away from them even before she is able to contribute her part in the building of this newly Provincialized College.
