Members of the Federation of Khasi – Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Mairang Circle, Friday put the “office” and the “tower” of the Aircel Company under “lock and key” in Mairang in West Khasi hills district as a mark of protest against its poor service.
“We have decided to seal the office and the tower of the Aircel Company at Lyngdoh Masi in Mairang after the company failed to address the problem of poor network coverage”, FKJGP Mairang Circle president Bobby Basaiawmoit said here.
Earlier due to similar problem, the FKJGP has also closed down the office of the Reliance Company in the area.
“We have on several occasions taken up the grievances faced by the people with regards to poor network coverage with the Aircel’s Technical Manager Dwipendra Sutar, but till date nothing was done”, the president informed.
Further, the FKJGP has also banned the shops operating in Mairang area prohibiting them not to sell the “recharge cards” and “top-up” of the company, till it (company) is ready to comply with the demand.
It has warned to take stern actions if any shops are found to continue to sell the company’s recharge cards.
“We strongly demanded the Company to solve the problem at the earliest”, Basaiawmoit said even as he threatened that if the company fails to do so, the FKJGP will have no other option but to petition the matter with state government asking for immediate closure of the company in the state.
