Islamia Sec School students felicitated by SMSCEA

Shillong Muslim Socio-Cultural and Educational Association (SMSCEA) organized a felicitation Ceremony on Sunday at Madrasa Hemayatul Islam Upper Primary School, Lumdiengjri, Shillong.
Six minority’s students of Islamia Secondary School who excelled in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination 2012 by securing star marks in different subjects were felicitated.
The general Secretary of SMSCEA Md Zaheer in his speech congratulated the students and expressed hope that felicitation woul serve as a impetus for the brilliant students to attain greater heights in life.

Youths urged to fight for better society

SHILLONG, Sept 30:
Youths should stand together and fight for the betterment of the society, asserted MDC from Narpuh constituency, Dr Mongol Singh while attending the general meeting of the All Jaintia Biate Youth Welfare Organization (AJBYWO) held on Saturday at Bosco Pnar hall.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Dr Singh encouraged the youths to follow the path of education.
“Through education, as youth one can change the society and bring development,” he said.
Meanwhile, President of the organization, Lalthanhola Darnei informed that the sole aim of organizing the meeting was to bring together all youths in Jaintia hills.

South Tura Constituency PCCs choose Leslee for party ticket

The Block Congress Committee of 51 – South Tura Constituency is facing a dilemma as to whom to select as Party Candidate from the constituency between Billikid A Sangma and John Leslee K Sangma.
In this regard, a meeting was conducted as directed by the Party High Command to receive the recommendations of the 22 Primary Congress Committees (PCC) in the Constituency. The committees were directed to conduct meetings in their respective PCC and select the candidate who is more popular in the locality and whom the people wanted.

Leadership Training Services commits to ‘Save the World’

‘Save the world’ was the cry heard among the members of the Leadership Training Services (LTS), Shillong region during the Annual Sangam held on Sunday at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong. Around 500 members from different schools in and around Shillong joined hands together in their commitment ‘For God and Country.’
In the inaugural speech former Principal of Mary’s College, Shillong, Sr. Philomena Kharkongor RNDM, compared the life of the members of the LTS to a candle who should burn out for others. She encouraged the students to be of service to God, to one’s parents and the society at large.
“Our qualifications and knowledge should be of service to others,” she asserted.

Holy Cross School celebrated ‘Grand-Parents Day’ in Agartala

The students of Holy Cross School at Durjoynagar, honored and expressed their gratitude towards grandparents, as they are the models and monitors of the children in the family, through a colorful mega cultural event.
This mega celebration was focused on the theme ‘Literacy” expressing an urgent need for education and thirst for knowledge.  The students proclaimed that they are being educated to make the less fortunate educated.
