Shillong, Sept 27: Lumshnong Village Defense Party (VDP) Thursday handed over five persons to police for their involvement in selling liquor illegally in and around Lumshnong village under Narpuh Elaka in East Jaintia hills district.
The five have been apprehended along with a huge cache of liquor after a raid was conducted by the members of the VDP, Lumshnong VDP president P Mukhim told reporters here.

SHILLONG, Sept 27: Following the complaints from the public due toÂ poor state of the Rymbai -Umshong -Leshka Hydel Project road, the Jaintia Youth Federation East Jaintia Hills Region (JYF-EJHR), through its President Niwasly RymbaiÂ , General Secretary Central body ,PP Lyngdoh and other members have submitted a memorandum demanding the immediate repairing of the road, to the Executive EngineerÂ PWD (R) NEC Division Jowai in order that the public could get the benefit in their day-to- day journey especially in times of emergency .
