SHILLONG, Sept 28: State Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong Friday said that the â€œHigh Level Committee (HLC) on Influxâ€ has decided to ask the government to consider on the request made by the NGOs to include representative from all NGOs as members of the committee.
However, not a â€˜singleâ€™ representative from the NGOs turned up at the first sitting of the committee held here on Friday as according to the Deputy Chief Minister they (NGOs) have expressed their resentment on the government decision to include only selected NGOs to the committee.
â€œTaking into consideration on the opinions expressed by them, the committee has decided to recommend that the government may allow one representative from every NGO in the committee,â€ Lanong told reporters here.
SHILLONG, Sept 28: The Deputy Commissioner (Election), South West Khasi Hills district, A Mawlong along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) in charge Election Branch KL Nongbri, met the representatives of five political parties comprising of the Indian National Congress (INC), UDP, HSPDP, BJP and NPP recently in his office chamber and discussed about the special summary revision of the electoral rolls, the systematic voterâ€™s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) and other matters relating to various programmes of the Election Department.

Shillong, Sept 28: The widening of Nongmynsong road will be completed by November as 60 percent of the work has already been completed.
Local MLA of Pynthorumkhrah and Water Resources Minister AL Hek informed that the expansion work on road will be completed by November while efforts are on to complete the work by October.
SHILLONG, Sept 28: The High Level Committee (HLC) on Influx headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong on Friday held its first sitting wherein it has decided to seek the views and suggestions of all stakeholders besides the traditional institutions and NGOs in the state on the issue.
Besides, the committee has also assured that it would submit its report by November next.
â€œWe have decided to issue a â€˜public-noticeâ€™ inviting stakeholders to extend their views, suggestions and information on issue related to foreigners or labourers to the committee,â€ Chairman of the committee Lanong told reporters here after the meeting.
