ANVC(B) bars leaders without ‘Garoland’ agenda from entering Garo Hills

Shillong, Sept 28:
Exhorting that there will be no compromise on its demand of ‘Garoland’, ANVC(B) has decided to bar political leaders and aspirants from entering Garo Hills who do not advocate for ‘Garoland’ in their campaign for 2013 election.
“All those leaders who do not stand for ‘Garoland’ should stop dreaming of entering and campaigning for 2013 election. We will not compromise the upcoming election at any cost,” ANVC(B) stated in a press communiqué here.

Bindo rules out withdrawal from MUA

SHILLONG, Sept 28:
Demystifying all speculations on the probability of United Democratic Party (UDP) to pull out from the MUA government, UDP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong Friday said “There is no question of us to pull out from the government,” adding “We are here (government) for the administration and to serve the people of the state collectively.”
Recently, after UDP’s CEC meeting, Party working President Paul Lyngdoh had hinted that the party would pull out of the government as it is not happy with the way the government is dealing with certain issues including that on the arrested Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) Chairman Champion R Sangma.

Meghalaya NCP files petition against rebel legislators

SHILLONG, Sept 28:
Meghalaya Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Friday officially filed a petition against eleven NCP legislators with the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope for merger with Purno's newly formed party - Nationalist Peoples' Party (NCP).
"Complying with the directive of the NCP high command, we have file a petition against 11 legislators of the party except one MLA, who recently passed away, to the Speaker and Secretary of the State Assembly," Ad hoc Committee Convener and State Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shullai told reporters here.

KSU-NC demands doctor at Lumshnong PHC within 10 days

SHILLONG, Sept 28:
Irked at the inaction of the state government, the Narpuh Circle of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU-NC) Friday demanded the State Health Minister Rowel Lyngdoh to fulfill the assurances given to the union by immediately appointing one more doctor at the Lumshnong PHC in East Jaintia hills district within 10 days as deadline.
Besides, the Union also threatened to resort to stern actions if the Minister failed to comply with the demand.

ANVC(B) sets 3 day deadline for release of cadres

Shillong, Sept 28:
ANVC(B) Friday alleged that the state government have violated the internal agreement of April 13 by arresting ANVC(B) cadres who were on surrender mode.
“Arrested ANVC(B) cadres are tortured by electrocuting and forcing to drink toilet water which is a violation of human rights and inhuman act which we condemn,” ANVC(B) alleged in a press communiqué here.
Asserting that the outfit has responded for talks, ANVC(B) said if the state government is serious about peace it has to release its cadres within three days.
