Shillong, Sept 30: The Block Congress Committee of 51 – South Tura Constituency is facing a dilemma as to whom to select as Party Candidate from the constituency between Billikid A Sangma and John Leslee K Sangma.
In this regard, a meeting was conducted as directed by the Party High Command to receive the recommendations of the 22 Primary Congress Committees (PCC) in the Constituency. The committees were directed to conduct meetings in their respective PCC and select the candidate who is more popular in the locality and whom the people wanted.
On Friday last, the recommendations were opened in the presence of the observers. Of the 20 PCCs, 17 choose John Leslee K Sangma for Party ticket as he secured 100 percent votes in these PCCs while he secured 45 percent votes in one more PCC.
Bilykid A Sangma on the other hand secured 100 percent votes from three PCC and 55 percent votes in one PCC thereby taking the supporting PCC in his favor to 4. One PCC Upper Babupara was rejected.
The result clearly showed that the Party workers preferred John Leslee K Sangma to represent the party in the 2013 MLA election for South Tura constituency.
