Guwahati, March 27: Trusted lieutenant of ULFA’s Commander-in-Chief Paresh Baruah – Bijoy Chinese continues to endorse Baruah’s ideals and principles. Chinese said he has come over ground to hold negotiations but refused to elaborately explain his plans and strategies.

Paresh Baruah has recently singled out for possible talks with the government, if the discussions were in line with core issue of ULFA for a “sovereign Assam”.
Chinese repeatedly talked about negotiations as he remarked he will never leave the principles and ideology taught by Baruah.
The dreaded ULFA leader also remarked that that only Baruah will be able to resolve the issue of Assam.
When questioned about merging with Arabinda Rajkhowa faction for holding peace talks, Chinese opined that after negotiations only he will be able to tell. For now he maintained that on a particular timing he will discuss the issue with Rajkhowa and categorically remarked that he fully support Baruah and his ideals only.
Chinese remarked that Baruah should remain in jungle and guide his followers as he is the right person, who will be able to sort out the ongoing problems of Assam.
Chinese, joined ULFA in 1989 and hails from Tamulpur in Nalbari district. He underwent training in Myanmar. Many say that the move by Chinese was a "big blow" to the Barua faction. However, Chinese maintains that he is still with Baruah, as he strongly believes in his ideals and is over ground only to hold negotiations. But the big question is – Is Chinese negotiating on behalf of Baruah?
ULFA had earlier said in a statement that Chinese coming over ground would "not have any impact" on the outfit. The statement clearly stated that the future of ULFA struggle does not depend on any one person.
Recently, Baruah had made an appeal to media organizations not to call the outfit after him. The anti-talk faction is usually referred to in the media as the Paresh Baruah-led faction after the group led by Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa came over ground to hold talks with the government to resolve the issue. Baruah had also stated that ULFA is headed by its Chairman Dr. Abhijit Asom and they are also working for the interest of the outfit.
