SHILLONG, Oct 30: The third meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) on influx was unanimous in their consensus that Garo hills should also be included under the purview of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Chairman of the committee and Deputy Chief Minister, Bindo M Lanong said, â€œThe members of the committee have expressed that Garo Hills should not be left out if the Inner Line Permit is being implemented in the state.â€
Shillong, Oct 30 (PTI): A slight intensity quake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale hit Marigaon area of Assam Tuesday morning, officials said.
The quake which took place at 7.10 am was epicentred at 92.4 degrees north latitude and 26.2 degrees east longitude, India Meteorological Department officials here said.
A mild quake with a magnitude of 3.4 had hit West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya on Monday at around 6 am, they said.
SHILLONG, Oct 30: The state Urban Affairs department has decided to allow vendors to continue their business at Polo market until the Court passes its verdict in favour of the department, even though it is now becoming skeptical of the entire project.
â€œWe have temporarily allowed them (vendors) to continue with their businesses at the market till the court gives its final decision on the matter,â€ State Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh told reporters here on Tuesday.

Shillong, Oct 30: The Meghalaya Upper primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) will hold a sit in Demonstration at All India Radio (AIR), Shillong which would be followed by a Procession March to Secretariat on November 01 at 11 am.
MUPSTA, General Secretary, Kenneth Shadap said, the reason of the agitation programme is due to the delay of the Government to implement the demand of the MUPSTA in which the Government as per the letter dated July 20 last had assured that the salary of the 3 assistant teachers andÂ Â Headmaster/Headmistress be enhanced.
