KSU warns picnic goers against committing nuisance on Jan 1

In a bid to avert any untoward incident in the Ri – Bhoi District, the Khasi Students Union (KSU), North Khasi Hills District (NKHD) has on Friday warned all the picnic revelers of January 01, 2012 from indulging in committing any nuisance or any activity that might affect the prestige and the well being of the society and the district as a whole.
Asst. Sport Secretary, T. Buhphang, stated that the Union is very concerned looking back at the untoward incidents that have occurred in the past few years in picnic areas such as at UCC Peak, Dyke Side (Umroi Junction) and other picnic spots.
The Union has requested families and people visiting the picnic spots to be careful against committing any nuisance in these areas.
It has sought cooperation from the Headman of Umiam, Umbir and nearby villages to keep a watch on the celebrations so that they can also protect the welfare of the people of these areas. The Union also informed that families and picnic parties can organize picnics up to 5 pm of January 01, 2012, and upon violating any of the mentioned notices the guilty will be strongly punished.
