Shillong, Dec 03: Government of Meghalaya on Saturday conferred IT awards in the form of laptops to meritorious students that excelled in the last board examination at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.
The awards were conferred to 126 students from all over the state who had excelled in SSLC, HSSLC examinations of MBOSE, CBSE, ISC and ICSE.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma stressed that one’s success stories do not confine to only them, but it inspires and encourages many around them.
Congratulating the meritorious students, the CM urged to work harder with dedication to bring out the best in them.
More so because of the fact that it is not just the students who put hard work for their results but also their parents and teachers, who work equally hard to provide all the amenities required.
He also asserted that “where there is a will there is a way”. Hence, once should work with determination to achieve the sought goal.
Dr Sangma further mentioned that the government is trying to reach maximum students to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.
Among the students receiving the awards was also a specially – abled student, Fernando Lawai.
Meanwhile, IT Minister, AL Hek emphasized that students have done their parents, teachers, school, community proud but cautioned them from being engulfed by pride and ego.
Asserting “without education there is no life”, he said “you have to create your own way to reach the destination”.
Earlier, Commissioner and Secretary of Information Technology Department, DP Wahlang informed that this year’s “Meghalaya IT Award” function was the fifth edition wherein the department was awarding meritorious students with laptops.
Further, he apprised this time the department, on the suggestion of the Chief Minister, was also trying to award students from the state that have shined out in other states in the same board examinations. This years, however, he said only one student has come forward who studies in Assam.
