Action being taken on MGNREGS irregularities: Minister

Meghalaya Community & Rural Development (C&RD) Minister Saleng A Sangma Friday assured the House that the government is taking all necessary actions against alleged “irregularities” in the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the state.
Replying to a starred question on the floor of the House during the Question Hour on the last day of the Autumn Session of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Sangma informed that the department has received 13 complaints alleging irregularities in the implementation of MGNREGS.
He added that all such complaints are inquired into and necessary actions are taken.
He further apprised that the districts also received 93 complaints during 2012 – 13 and disposed 70 cases while the remaining 23 complaints are at different stages of investigations.
