SHILLONG, Dec 23: For the opposition Congress in Meghalaya, there seems to be no respite even in the coming year with the NPP stating that yet another jolt waits to greet the Congress come New Year.
From losing out on senior leaders to ruling NPP and untimely death of one, the Congress has been through some rough patch this year. Sounding certain to keep the Congress devoid of any good times, NPP state president, WR Kharlukhi said that come New Year and the Congress will receive yet another jolt. And this he said would occur before the 2019 MP elections.
Asked about the trouble the MDA coalition is faced with on deciding upon a common candidate for the 2019 MP elections, Kharlukhi said that it is not a difficult task and will be done and the MDA alliance is strong enough not to be affected by it as it will last the full term and may even go beyond.
On reports of UDP turning out to be a dominant force in projecting its candidate as a common MDA candidate, Kharlukhi rubbished the report as untrue and said that they are in constant touch with the UDP leadership.
