SHILLONG, Aug 07: Meghalaya Pre Primary School Teachers Association (MPPSTA) Tuesday demanded the state government to release their salary on a regular basis.
The decision was taken at the second general conference of the MPPSTA held at the Khasi National Durbar Hall here on Tuesday.
â€œWe demand the state government to release the salary of the teachers regularlyâ€, President W Kharnaior said.
According to him, the late disbursement of the salary which is on quarterly basis (three months) has created a lot of problem for the teachers who earn their livelihood by teaching.
Besides, he said government has even failed to provide any allowances and arrears to the pre â€“ primary teachers despite of their dedication towards their profession.
He, however, lauded the government approval to enhance of salary from Rs 1800 to Rs 6000 per month, adding â€œThis is after repeated plea made but we are glad as this is one of our greatest achievementsâ€.
